Shows no life, even after inserting new battery

This Mertik Maxitrol remote control arrived safely from Manchester and on testing was found to power on but the battery indicator was reading lower than fully charged with a new battery.

The regulator was replaced which restored full functionality, the battery cable was also replaced with a longer cable as a precaution as the original short cables are notorious for breaking.
