Customer's Fault Description
LCD display works but does not connect to the fireplace. New batteries have been added to both remote and receiver.

Display flashed 'off' (on remote) when trying to start the unit followed by F46 which indicates unit is not paired with the receiver (also other possible issues which have been eliminated).
Remote Fixer Repair Response
This Mertik Maxitrol remote arrived safely from Brighton and on testing was found not to be transmitting a signal.
This was found to be due to a faulty oscillator, a replacement was fitted which restored full functionality.
