MATHMOS FAZE3 Remote Repair Details
Manufacturer : MATHMOS
Model : FAZE3
Customers Fault Description : Although the lamp unit is working the remote control is not when trying to change functions on the unit. Possible corrosion and chip defect inside. I think you have come across this problem before for this particular remote control. Please advise via email or mobile if repair is possible because my wife wants the original remote repaired and working if possible rather than purchase a copy.
Remote Fixer Repair Response (see below) :
This Mathmos remote control arrived safely and on testing was dead.
On opening almost the entire PCB was covered in corrosion from a battery leak. An attempt was made to replace one of the buttons which revealed that the corrosion was too severe. This means that the entire PCB would need replacing which isn't possible due to the lack of spares availability.
Also some of the pins of the main IC were found to have suffered corrosion and the print under the IC also has suffered damage.
Unfortunately a repair has not been possible.
A clone was supplied and original returned 4th Mar 2024
