Customer's Fault Description
The remote stopped working, the light does not come on when the button is pressed. Could you replace the battery cover as well please
Remote Fixer Repair Response
This gas fire remote control arrived safely and on inspection was found to have a damaged battery cover.
On testing initially the remote was found to work as normal. After talking to the customer it was concluded to test over a period of time. After a day of random testing the remote eventually did show the dead fault which was intermittent.
This was found to be due to corrosion under the red LED (see image). The LED was removed and the print reworked which restored full functionality (it was tested for another day at random intervals)
A replacement battery cover was fitted as a spare was handy from a scrap remote. The case was then cleaned of all tape residue.
