The infra-red bulb has come away from the circuit board.
Remote Fixer Repair Response

This Electric Fire remote control arrived safely and on testing was found to be dead.  When opened the print around the IR LED was found to be broken, the print was reworked holding the LED firmly into place.  This restored full functionality.
