Customer's Fault Description
Case is broken and being held together with tape, some functions do not work, have to press buttons very hard, which is further damaging the remote.
Remote Fixer Repair Response
This SMEG remote control arrived safely and on inspection was in pieces with markings around the edge of the remote from an attempted opening and the screw fixing shaft was broken.
On testing some of the buttons were non responsive and others very sluggish.
This was due to tiny corrosion spots in the carbon traces. This was reworked which restored full functionality. Please note that this remote transmits on the release of the buttons (not the pressing).
The case was then glued together and cleaned of its tacky coating (replacement cases are not available as spares).
