Put in new battery next day battery dead
Remote Fixer Repair Response

This remote control arrived safely and on inspection was found to have contamination shorting out both of the main ICs,  This was subsequentially draining the battery.

The PCB was cleared of all contaminants and the solder reflowed, when retested the remote was then found to not drain the power anymore. 

The battery cable was also replaced with a longer wire (the originals are notorious for breaking)
