Customer's Fault Description

The remote has 70 buttons (37 are hidden within the slide feature of the hand set). Only 4 are now working. On/off, Open/Close (Dvd tray) Muting and Audio Vol. All others began working intermittently but have now failed all together. I cannot play, pause, ff, rr, change surround settings or switch sources etc.

Remote Fixer Repair Response

This JVC DVD Cinema System Remote Control RM-STHS5R arrived safely and on inspection the battery cover is missing its fixing flap meaning it does not stay in position properly, this cannot be replaced as spares are not available and does not effect functionality.

On testing the select switch at the side was found not to actualte, this meant that changing the function of the remote from Audio, TV or VCR was not possible. This was due to a faulty switch, this was replaced which restoerd partial functionality. It was then found that the power / i audio and open/close buttons were non responsive. This was due to worn contacts, these were reworked which restored full functionality.

Every button now responds correctly when tested using its correct mode (audio, tv or vcr) see testing video.
