Volume control doesn't work.

 

This marantz remote control arrived safely and was found to have a "sticky" volume control, this led to the conclusion that there was some sort of contamination inside the remote.

Initial inspection of the remote reveled signs that the remote had been attempted to be opened prior to its arrival due to marking on the sides (see photos below)

Upon opening the remote there was indeed a spillage around the volume + and - buttons, this was cleaned up and full functionality was restored (see testing video)
