Nothing on the remote is currently working, it looks like a connection wire in battery area as snapped.

 

This Sony Audio system controller arrived safely and on testing was confirmed to not be responding on any button press.

The issue was found to be due to a faulty IR led, a replacement was fitted which restored full functionality.
