Customer's Fault Description
I suspect this remote went through a washing cycle because we found it in the washer drum minus the hook and string. The led lights up sometimes if you move the battery about between the terminals, and there is a metal part loose inside.
This garage door controller arrived safely and on inspection was rattling.
On opening the PCB had signs of water contamination and the crystal oscillator was broken. The board was given an alcohol bath to remove as much contaminants as possible and the oscillator was replaced.
This restored normal functionality.
