LCD screen on remote is completely blank, and doesn't show the normal indicators.<br /> Can no longer turn on my Air Con unit. <br /> Before it completely died, the LCD screen was showing a scrambled pattern.

 

This Aircon controller arrived safely and on adding a power source was confirmed to be dead.

When opened there was a mass of sticky contamination over the button array (see image), this was causing a few short circuits. This contamination was cleaned up using alcohol which restored normal functionality.
