Qantec RCQ-100 - QT5505LEDBC Remote Repair Details
Manufacturer : Qantec
Model : RCQ-100 - QT5505LEDBC
Customers Fault Description : No function - buttons dont have any affect. No obvious liquid damage. Remote will likely require board work - not just cleaning so please confirm you carry this kind of thing out
This TV remote arrived safely and on adding a power source the red visible LED was lit without a button being pressed. No response could be obtained from any button.
After as short period the red led would go off and again no response could be found from the buttons except for a random blip. Removing the batteries and refitting them would also give a "blip" from the IR led.
On opening a full component test was carried out but all read as fine. It was almost classed as beyond repair but as a precaution the IC was removed to check for any contamination / corrosion under it. When refitted back into place the item sprung to life. It would appear that at least one of the solder joints on the IC was bad.
