These controls arrived safely and on testing the Systemline remotes were confirmed to be dead.

This was due to the main ic having cracked solder joints on its pins.  The solder was reflowed on all of them which restored full functionality. 

The Hormann remotes we found to illuminate but not transmit a signal, this was due to detached aerial coils.  These were resoldered back into place which restored full functionality.
