Customer's Fault Description
Remote Control not linking to Arcam Solo, Presumed to be a power problem. Not used in five years or so and Batteries left inside unit, corrosion noted on one of the battery terminals. Battery was stuck inside and required careful extraction with fine nosed pliers. Battery terminal cleaned gently as far as possible with Switch cleaner and cotton bud.
Remote Fixer Repair Response
This Arcam remote arrived safely and on testing was confirmed dead. On opening the battery terminal was badly contaminated from the battery leak (see images).
Also there was a very large pool of contaminant all over the button array and PCB. The pcb was cleared of all contaminant using alcohol and the terminal was cleaned and re-palated. This restored full functionality.
Please note it is highly advised never to spray any cleaner inside a control as this can destroy items beyond repair.
