The remote got water spilt on it and now works intermittently.

This fire controller arrived safely and on testing was found to have intermittent signals.

On opening one of the main ICs had signs of contamination over some of its pins.  The PCB was given an alcohol bath to remove all contaminants and also the crystals were replaced.  This restored full functionality.
