Buttons in silver section of remote are unresponsive (mute, volume etc.)

This remote arrived safely and on testing was confirmed to have various non responsive buttons.

When opened the issue was found to be due to a large amount of sticky liquid over almost all of the button contacts (see image).  The PCB and button array was cleared of all contaminants which restored full functionality to all buttons.
