Customer's Fault Description
I hadn't used the remote for sometime and when I tried to use it, it didn't work and I noticed one of the batteries had leaked. I cleaned the unit and replaced the batteries. Now when you hold the unit it unlocks(the green light comes on & stays on), but does not communicate with the fire. The fire is fine when using the manual controls.
Remote Fixer Repair Response
This remote arrived safely and on testing was found to be responding dfrom each button press but was not transmitting an RF signal.
When opened the battery compartment was confirmed to have suffered a battery leak (there was crystallised acid over the PCB)
The board was cleaned up and a component test was carried out but no issue could be found. It was eventually concluded that the battery leak may have surged to a high voltage as the battery broke down and popped the main IC. This IC is not available as a spares which sadly makes a repair not possible.
This remote was disposed of as per the customers telephone request 14th Jan 2022
