Can't switch fire on. Seems unable to connect to receiver.

This Mertik Maxitrol fireplace remote arrived safely from Lancashire and on adding a battery was found to have an erroneous battery indicator, this means that the regulator was faulty (this also effects the signal strength)

A replacement regulator was fitted as well as a replacement battery cable.  Full functionality was restored.
