Customer's Fault Description
The remote works for turning the fire off, but not on. We have replaced the receiver, but still get the same problem.
Remote Fixer Repair Response

This remote arrived safely from Cumbria and on testing was confirmed to have an erroneous up channel.

this was due to a faulty 40.5Khz oscillator. This was replaced which restored full functionality. The battery cable was also replaced.
