Customer's Fault Description
There is functionality to all buttons on the 6th to 8th rows of the remote (i.e. the rows beginning 'intro', 'repeat' and 'display'). There is some functionality in the last two rows (i.e. the rows beginning '-' and 'preset'). There is no functionality to any of the buttons in any of the other rows. Initially the problem was encountered in the volume buttons but has spread even to buttons that are little used. My suspicion is that there may be some surface corrosion associated with damp.
Remote Fixer Repair Response
This Linn CD player remote control arrived safely and on testing was found to have many non functioning buttons.
This was found to be due to bad solder joints on the main IC, the solder was re-flowed on the IC which restored full functionality.
