New batteries fitted but remote does not operate

This Winterwarm heater remote arrived safely from Thurso and on testing was found to have sluggish button response.

On opening there was a large mass of contamination over the button pads and PCB (see image), this was all cleaned and then replacement conductive pads glued under each of the buttons.

Full functionality was restored.
