Customer's Fault Description
The remote is certainly broken. It was dropped and the screen got damaged. It also looks like has minimal battery power even with new batteries. However, the fire did continue to work with the broken remote for some time but no longer does. Before paying for a replacement receiver, it’d like to see if fixing the remote will do it.
Remote Fixer Repair Response
This Mertik Maxitrol remote arrived safely and on inspection was found to have a badly damaged display.
The display was replaced and then when tested the remote had full functionality restored.
