Customer's Fault Description
The controller is not holding the charge of the 9v new battery (we've tried 3 new ones). New battery is put in, shows 'full bars', then quickly goes to 'half bars'. It's hit and miss getting the fire on. When we have got it on we can't then get it off and there is no manual override on the fire (have to turn gas off at mains). Fire recently serviced and engineer confirmed controller fault.
Remote Fixer Repair Response
This Mertik Maxitrol remote arrived safely from Caldy and on testing was found to have an erroneous battery indicator meaning the regulator was at fault.
The regulator and battery cable were replaced which restored full functionality.
