Initially the button to control the foot rest was sticking. now know buttons are working
Remote Fixer Repair Response

This remote arrived safely from Coventry and on inspection was found to have a damaged cable and extension cable as well as worn button contacts.  

We do not have extension cables for these remotes and therefore have bypassed the need for an extension by fitting a long straight cable (we cannot get the curly cables)

Then replacement conductive pads were glued under each of hte main buttons.
