Customer's Fault Description
5 years old, never actually used (it was a spare), but batteries have during that time leaked and eroded contacts, new batteries do not help, despite a very light brushing away of blue powder on contacts.
Remote Fixer Repair Response

This Velux remote arrived safely and on testing was confirmed to be dead.

This was due to a corroded terminal.  this was etched clean and then re-plated which restored full functionality.
