The red light on the handset flickers all he time when the battery is connected and the remote does not operate the fire

This Flavel Diamond gas HE high efficiency wall mounted gas fire remote controller arrived safely from Letchworth Garden City and on testing was foud to be transmitting without any button being pressed.

This was due to a short circuit button.  All 3 buttons and the battery cable were replaced, full functionality was restored.
