Looks like battery terminals corroded
Remote Fixer Repair Response

This remote control arrived safely from Pembrokeshire  and on inspection was confirmed to have corroded battery terminals from an apparent battery leak.  This was making the remote control dead.

The terminals were etched clean and then re-plated which restored full functionality.
