No buttons work with out twisting cable at about where tape is and benting it think cable broken

This chair remote control arrived safely from Norwich and on inspection the cable was found to have an open circuit core at the remote entry point.
The cable was cut back and refitted to bypass the break. The resto f the remote tested as ok.
