Customer's Fault Description
Intermittent red light and function. Still illuminates red light and sends infra red but only for a very short time. No improvement with a new battery.
Remote Fixer Repair Response
This Gas fire remote controller arrived safely from Wigan and on testing was found to transmit intermittently. This was found to be due to a common fault with the 3.3v voltage regulator going intermittent. This makes the 3v go as low as 1v giving a very weak signal.
The regulator and battery cable was replaced which restored full functionality.
It is important to fit a new battery in this item on return as any previously inserted batteries may be drained due to the fault. Also remember to replace the batteries in the receiver each 12 months as we are seeing many receivers with battery leaks which can be disastrous, its best to avoid this by replacing the batteries on a regular basis.
