Customer's Fault Description
The system hasn't been used for 10+ years and the batteries were left in the remote control. I put new batteries in yesterday and the remote control worked, I tried to clean out some of the crystal residue from the batteries and now the remote control doesn't work at all. I guess I must have damaged it in some way. The music system is OK.
Remote Fixer Repair Response
This remote control arrived safely from Cheshire and on testing was confirmed to be dead.
On opening the negative terminal wire for the battery block was open circuit, it appears to have internally deteriorated due to the battery acid. The wire was replaced and the terminals cleaned and re-plated using SCP. Full functionality was restored.
