Changing batteries and remote faded and then started flashing

This Gas fire remote control arrived safely from Liverpool and on testing when the batteries are first inserted the digits on the screen will flash. This is normal as it required the clock to be set before you can progress to the full functionality of the remote. Once the time was set the remote seemed to functional as normal.
