Customer's Fault Description
The play key is sluggish but the freeze/stop key directly below the play key wont work at all. It is the middle of 3 buttons below the play button.
Remote Fixer Repair Response
Sony Hard Disc Player remote control arrived safely from Colchester and on testing many buttons were non responsive.
On opening there was a large mass of sticky liquid over the button array and PCB (see image). The PCB was cleared of all contaminants as well as the button pads, a couple of buttons were worn, replacement conductive pads were glued into place. Full functionality was restored.
