Customer's Fault Description
Remote stopped working - left batteries in too long and the leaked! Have cleaned it out as much as possible, but it is not working. Might be something else wrong with it as well - we inherited it from the people who owned our house before.
Remote Fixer Repair Response

This Electric Fire remote control arrived safely from Llanelli and on testing was found to be dead.

On opening there was signs of a battery leak (see image), the PCB and button contacts were cleared of all acidic contaminates and then a component test was carried out.  When retested the remote was then found to transmit but it was a scrambled signal.  Unfortunately the issue was found to be the main IC which is encased under black resin which makes arepair not possible.
