The remote and receiver work but only when you hold the remote about 1 inch from the receiver.
Remote Fixer Repair Response

This Gas fire remote control arrived safely from Waddington and on testing the remote control had a very very weak US Signal.

This was due to a faulty transducer in the handset, the transducer was replaced which restored full functionality. 

No fault was found with the receiver itself.
