Mertik Maxitrol G6R-H4T16 Remote Repair Details
Manufacturer : Mertik Maxitrol
Model : G6R-H4T16
Customers Fault Description : Battery Low Warning Light stays on despite new battery. Wont start the gas fire either. Discussed with Martin and he says common problem to do with voltage etc
Remote Fixer Repair Response (see below) :
This Gas Fire remote control arrived safely and on testing was found to be dead (No display at all).
The voltage regulator and battery cable was replaced and the regulator output voltage was tested as correct at 3.3volts but sadly the remote remained dead.
It is thought that the faulty regulator (which causes an erroneous battery indicator) may have put out an over voltage. The regulator is supposed to change volts to 3.3v but when it goes faulty it can put out varying voltages. If it is below 3.3 volts it will show an erroneous voltage indicator but if it gives out upto 9 volts it can cause further damage to components that are only rated for 3.3volts.
In this case a repair has not been possible.
