Customers Fault Description : Starter switch very sluggish and difficult to switch off despite new batteries

Remote Fixer Repair Response (see below) :

This Flame effect Electric Fire remote control arrived safely and on testing was found to have sluggish button response.  The button contacts were worn.

Replacement conductive pads glued under each of the buttons.

Full functionality was restored.
