Remote powers on but won't since up with box

This Motor mover remote control arrived safely from Morecambe and on testing initially it was temperamental to power up from its double power button press, this waws due to the battery connection, rotating the batteries rectified this.
When powered up the remote was found to have a strong RF signal.
The remote was then tested at random intervals over a 2 day period with no issue being found.
It is thought that the issue may be with the receiver itself.
