Marell ltd MRC/tx6/8 Remote Repair Details

Manufacturer : Marell ltd

Model : MRC/tx6/8

Customers Fault Description : Buttons seem tight No power Doesnt light up the led light on remote

Remote Fixer Repair Response (see below) :

This Remote control for a disabled ramp arrived safely from Birmingham and on testing the buttons were confirmed to be "stiff" and when tested was dead.  There was damage to the battery connector with signs of a battery leak.

The Voltage on the PCB input waws reading irregular with corrosion signs in the print from the battery leak.  The battery cable was replaced and the traces tested as ok.

This restored regular voltage but unfortunately the remote remained dead.  After further components tests were carried out it was eventually concluded that the PIC chip was at fault.  Unfortunately this is a custom programmed chip that is not available as a spare already programmed which has made a repair not possible.

The buttons being stiff was simply due to spacers deteriorating / missing, this can easily be rectified by fitting replacement spacers but as the remote remains dead this was not done.

This item is classed as beyond repair.
