Customer's Fault Description
The remote will not always turn the fire on and off and the up and down button to control the flame/heat output do not work

This remote arrived safely and on testing was found to be functioning as normal.

The customer was contacted and it was concluded that the issue could be caused by an intermittent voltage regulator.  The regulator and battery cable were both replaced.
