Buttons only work intermittently if at all even after replacement with new battery’s
Remote Fixer Repair Response

This heater remote control arrived safely and on testing was found to have nonresponsive / sluggish button response.

This was due to corrosion in the print from contamination.  The PCB and buttons were cleared of all contaminants and then the print reworked which restored full functionality.
