Customers Fault Description : No display or control of the remote with a fresh new battery.

Remote Fixer Repair Response (see below) :

This Gas Fire Remote Control arrived safely and on testing was found to be dead.  This was due to a faulty battery cable.  Once replaced full functionality was restored.
