Remote does not operate on any buttons

This Remote control arrived safely and on inspection was found to be missing its battery cover, this cannot be replaced as spares are not available.
On testing the remote was dead.
The battery terminals had signs of corrosion from a battery leak. Once the terminals were replaced full functionality was restored.
