Customer's Fault Description
The red power button lit up and would not go out. When a channel key was pressed a different channel appeared. I tried replacing batteries but made no difference

This LG remote arrived safely and on adding batteries the remote does indeed have a illuminated power button, this goes out after a few seconds.
THe control is found to be rtnasmitting an infra red signal. This means thath it might just need "pairing" with its TV - https://www.lg.com/uk/support/product-help/CT00008334-20150160196017
A quick google search has found that replacement remotes for this model are quite cheap (in this case cheaper than a repair and return postage cost) Please see here for details
