Batteries corroded and spring connection dropped out

This Caravan mover remote arrived safely and on inspection was found to have badly damaged battery terminals, these were replaced but the power switch had no effect.
On opening the on off switch was found to have a broken shaft (see image). The switch was replaced which restored full functionality.
