Customer's Fault Description
The button on the remote control to increase the flame is not working. It shows the little transmitter sign on the remote, but the green LED on the receiver unit doesn't light up. The button to reduce the flame does work. I think the thermostat and timer functions on the remote are ok too, but they can't work if they can't send a signal to the receiver to increase the flame. There are also some signs of battery leakage in the receiver unit, although not much.
Remote Fixer Repair Response
This fireplace remote and receiver arrived safely and on testing the remote was found to be transmitting as per normal operation.
The receiver however had sporadic response. The battery block had signs of a battery leak / corrosion and on opening a large amount of crystallised battery acid was found. Sadly due to this damage a repair is not possible and a replacement receiver is required.
No fault was found with the remote itself.
A google search was carried out and replacement receivers can be found here
