Customer's Fault Description
The led only flashes briefly on pressing any button. It won't start the fire and nor will the light flash again until the remote has been left for some time.
Remote Fixer Repair Response

This Infra Red Mertik Maxitrol remote arrived safely and on testing was confirmed to be intermittently dead.

This was found to be due to a faulty battery cable.  A replacement cable and clip was fitted which restored full functionality.
