Customer's Fault Description
I think the fault is with the battery connection. Did work at times, will illuminate the buttons for a second and then die.
Remote Fixer Repair Response
This remote arrived safely and on testing was found to be dead.
On opening the mode switch was seized, the reason for this was found when trying to desolder the switch, someone had super glued one of the battery terminals into place. This caused a lot of dangerous fumes!
After clearing the workshop the terminal was cleaned up and refitted which restored full functionality.
The switch was not removed or replaced as this is still functioning it is just stuck in position.
