The battery leaked causing acid damage to the wiring and clip on connecter.
Remote Fixer Repair Response

This remote arrived safely and on inspection was confirmed to have a damaged battery cable.  The cable was replaced and the print near the PCB connectors was reworked due to corrosion.  Full functionality was restored.
