We can turn the fire off or down but not on or up The pilot light is all working. It's just the up switch on the remote

 

This remote arrived safely but initial testing showed that a signal was being transmitted on both channels.  This had led to the conclusion that it is most likely the receiver that is faulty.

We will await the arrival of the receiver before proceeding.  

The receiver arrived and was tested and found to be faulty as suspected.  The fault was caused by a very intermittent Ultrasonic Receiver.  This was replaced and tested against the remote and full functionality was restored.  Please not that due to the unavailability of the smaller sized US receivers a larger one was fitted which called for a slight case modification (See testing video)
